Fort Worth EM is an elite Emergency Medicine residency program based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area dedicated to training the next generation of emergency physicians. Serving as a critical recruitment tool and educational center, the program required a powerful digital presence that could seamlessly house extensive information about their residency curriculum, fellowship programs, leadership teams, and the faculty members who train incoming doctors.
Key Challenges
Unlike a simple ground-up build, Fort Worth EM already had a legacy WordPress website, but it was heavily outdated, cluttered, and overwhelming to navigate. Because a residency program requires mountains of data—ranging from rotation schedules to leadership directories—the existing site had become a clunky administrative bottleneck. The program needed a modern, highly functional central hub that could serve as a streamlined resource for current staff, while simultaneously acting as an engaging recruitment tool to attract top-tier medical students looking for a program that balances rigorous medical education with a vibrant, supportive culture.
Strategic Approach
This was a massive, multi-week project where I completely overhauled the digital architecture to balance high-level functionality with authentic visual storytelling. To show prospective resident doctors that the program is just as fun as it is educational, I utilized thousands of archival photos capturing years of residency events, creating a modern, image-heavy layout. I also took brand new, professional photography of the current residents to give the site a crisp, unified, and welcoming face.
To simplify data management, I designed structured, scannable pages for their fellowships and faculty directories, built a dedicated showcase for their graduated alumni, and integrated dynamic counters on the homepage that automatically track and display their growing resident and faculty numbers.
