Meyering Method Emergency Medicine (MMEM) is a digital medical journal founded by an Emergency Medicine physician to serve as a dedicated publishing platform for himself, his residents, and the broader medical community.
Designed to host peer-reviewed case reports and medical articles, the brand requires a highly authoritative yet modern presentation that makes complex clinical information accessible to fast-paced medical professionals.
Key Challenges
Because this was a ground-up build with no existing website in place, the challenge lay in designing a complex, content-heavy ecosystem from scratch. Traditional academic journals are notoriously clunky, difficult to navigate, and slow to load. For busy ER doctors and residents, a slow site simply doesn’t work. Furthermore, managing multiple contributing authors, tracking their individual publication histories, and manual entry for outside article submissions threatened to create a massive administrative headache behind the scenes.
Strategic Approach
My strategy was to design a clean, modern, news-style website that completely redefines the reading experience for medical case reports. I designed the brand logo and identity from the ground up, then focused on building a lightning-fast, mobile-responsive layout that allows doctors to seamlessly scan data mid-shift.
To eliminate administrative strain, I engineered a highly automated backend ecosystem. I built a custom, secure submission page for outside article contributions and developed a dynamic author directory. Now, every contributing physician automatically receives a professional profile page that instantly catalogs their articles, while global metrics dynamically count and update across the site the second new content is published.
